We have been clients of Savannah animal hospital for almost 5 years. We love them and the service we receive. Our dogs even love to go there. I have nothing but great things to say about our experience thus far.
Great care but can't understand why they charge an extra $25 dollars to see a sick dog. The usual visit is $75. They told us they keep spaces open otherwise they could only see dogs for wellness visits so they charge an extra fee to keep them open. Good God. They are vets. They are supposed to see sick dogs. This just added insult to injury with our dog being sick. My MD doesn't charge extra to see me when I'm sick. The total bill was over 400 dollars.
Had one too many bad experiences. You would think I'd learn. The first time my husband took "Sporty", a male feline. The tech didn't even open the carrier. Kept referring to "Sporty" as "it". How did he know what was in the carrier? It could've been anything. The second time was really bad and caused my cat to suffer needlessly. She was so sweet. I now take my cats to Mike Metzler, the only veterinarian in Sussex County. Bit of a drive and wait (there is a reason for that) but overall it is worth it.
Our pup became ill while on vacation. Having had a bad experience with another vet at the beach a few years ago (walked out with a $400 bill after 10 minutes - my dog was way over treated), we were anxious about a new vet. Savannah Animal Hospital staff and vet couldn't have been kinder, or more reassuring and thorough. Dr. Martin was clear about different options for treatment and their costs, and conservative in her recommendation. We felt much better after our visit and confident our beloved pup would be fine. Happy to recommend.
The dog was diagnosed and everything fully discussed but we will be looking for another vet who doesn't charge extra because our dog is sick.
My friend's dog stopped breathing in the car on the way to Rehoboth Beach. We arrived at the hospital about 6 minutes later, and the receptionist at the front desk (stocky build with short dark hair) showed no urgency whatsoever and was more interested in selling dog food to the customer in front of her than responding to my emergency. She had a very cold demeanor. I was finally able to get someone to come out to the car. I locked up the car for my friend as she went in with her dog. When I re-entered the hospital, I asked where my friend and her dog had been taken so I could re-join them and she said in a very snippy way "I have no idea. I didn't see them come in." You would think that she'd maybe help me out and make some effort to locate them for me, but she didn't do a damn thing to assist. The situation was stressful enough and my friend ended up losing her dog that day, and that woman at the front desk showed no concern whatsoever. On a positive note, the nurses who took care of the dog were friendly, professional, and showed support for my friend. Hard to believe she has the job she does.
